About This Course

Introduction to i-HELP and Community Commerce Projects (NAV101) is required by all Summer Cohort Community Navigators during their StartUp Training and typically takes about 6 hours to complete. In this course, you will be introduced to the iHELP program delivered by the Peake Fellowship with funding from the Connecting Minority Communities Pilot Program, as well as how to navigate the Open edX platform and other training resources. Specifically, you will also learn what big data is, how data is collected, and why local businesses owners need to optimize their Google Business Profile. You will also learn how you will complete and contribute to Community Commerce Projects. You will complete a series of quizzes, and your evaluation will be based upon your acquired knowledge as well as your effectiveness at reading comprehension, time management, and problem solving.

Course Objectives

Community Navigators will understand 1. What the i-HELP program is and the competencies they will gain from the program 2. What big data is and how it impacts local businesses 3. What Google Business Profile is and how local business data impacts how customers find and buy from local businesses 4. How to advise minority-owned businesses on ways to optimize their Google Business Profile 5. What VenlySpaces, Social Scores, and Venly Local are and how to use them to complete Community Commerce Projects.
