About This Course

NIST 800-171 Cyber Assessment Checkup Meetings (NAV203) is required by all Academic Cohort Community Navigators during their StartUp Training and typically takes about 6 hours to complete. In this course, Navigators will learn about the more advanced security needs of businesses who aspired to secure federal contracts or partnerships. They will learn how to lead a MBE business owner during a NIST 800-171 Checkup Meeting to self-assess any updates to their NIST 800-171 Score for Cyber Compliance. They will complete one exercise and a series of quizzes. Their evaluation will be based upon their acquired knowledge as well as their effectiveness at reading comprehension, time management, and problem solving.

Course Objectives

Community Navigators will understand 1. What NIST 800-171 is and why businesses who wish to secure federal contracts need to be compliant with the standard 2. What the NIST 800-171 Score for Cyber Compliance is and how to guide a business owner to self-update and self-assess their security practices 3. How to lead a NIST 800-171 Checkup Meeting session with a local business 4. How to securely document and share the local business’ cybersecurity action items for their internal use.

Requirements

Introduction to Cybersecure Best Practices and Checkup Meetings (NAV202) is a prerequisite for this course.
